Project I am Citizen (Sou Cidadão)

I am Citizen: Social Responsibility for Better Education and Health Services, a project that began in August 2018, financed by the European Union, under the Support Program for Non-State Actors in Mozambique - Participation for Inclusive Growth Support to Non-State Actors in Mozambique (PAANE) II, and involves five organizations, the Center for Training and Learning of Civil Society (CESC) (leader of the consortium), N'weti- Communication for Health, Progresso, Malhahle , MEPT and PLASOC.

The project is being implemented in the provinces of Cabo Delgado (Ancuabe, Montepuez), Niassa (Lake, Mandimba), Inhambane (Maxixe and Massinga), Tete (Moatize, Changara) and Sofala , Dondo) and has a duration of 5 years.

The main objective of the project is to support and promote "the improvement of the quality and efficiency of the provision of public services in the health and education sectors by strengthening involvement of citizens and civil society organizations in monitoring services and influencing policies.

The aim is to organize citizens to promote and encourage their participation in planning, monitoring and advocacy processes for better public health and education services. In addition, intervention, through monitoring and advocacy, will involve service providers and public decision-makers. Two main outcomes have been delineated and are expected at the end of the project:

Specific Objective 1. Citizens are better informed and able to demand their rights and monitor compliance with quality standards in the delivery of public health and education services.

Specific Objective 2: Increase the impact on provincial and national policies of evidence-based advocacy of civil society organizations and networks.
